The first priority at Nutshell is our excellent product. We build something people want. Pretty simple, right?

But as investors often lament, entrepreneurs can be found aimlessly seeking markets for their “solution” rather than identifying a need and giving the people what they want…no, what they NEED.A few years ago when I was contemplating leaving my corporate gig, I got on the phone with a senior partner at one of the major funds in the Valley and began pitching him my “solutions.” His reply was pretty simple: “Joe, just tell me the biggest problems in your industry and our propeller heads will figure out the solutions.” Focus on the problem: That is what Nutshell does so superbly and what drew me to be here.

Nutshell’s founding team struggled to find a CRM tool that provided the functionality needed by small, fast-growing companies in a thoughtful and intuitive way. They were tired of settling for a free product that lacked horsepower or overpaying for whistles and bells that even large enterprises rarely needed. It was a false choice and one that they didn’t feel other entrepreneurs should have to face.

So, for the last four years, our incredibly talented team of engineers has been writing code, building UIs, integrating with other solutions that share our high expectations for delivering awesome product to customers, and iterating again and again.

The result has been mind-blowing. Early this year Nutshell surpassed the first-hallmark of successful SaaS startups and hit $100k of MRR. And we did it with virtually zero marketing effort. We did it by building an awesome product and putting it out there for people to use.

So we celebrated…
